Spring 1 Term 2020
In Spring 1 in Year 4 the children read the novel ‘Fing’ by David Walliams. The children enjoyed his comical writing style and were enthusiastic throughout. They loved creating their own monsters for ‘The Monsterpedia’ book along with writing newspaper reports about which creature stole the custard creams. As well as reading Fing the class got involved with BBC Radio 2’s 500 word competition. The children used their imaginations to create their own stories with a chance to win a visit to London for the final. We had a range of genres written including adventure stories, horror stories and sci-fi. The children enjoyed being the story makers and having the freedom to be as creative as they wanted to be with their writing and to wherever their imagination took them. In History the children have been taking a step back in time to when the Roman’s invaded Britain and learnt more about why they came to our country. In Geography we have carried on learning about North America and comparing the populations of New York, San Francisco and areas surrounding the Grand Canyon.
